Good, common sense course for those both conducting and participating in performance interviews. This course covers 8 steps in the discussion process. It emphasizes that preparation and follow-up are also important, not just the actual meeting. The course illustrates the use of appraisals for: identifying problems, progress towards goals, improvement strategies, 2-way communication, and the provision of resources/coaching. A strong point is the differentiation exercises between performance and personality observations. The course also discusses the importance of interim meetings for ensuring commitments to goals, marking progress, etc.
